New Afton Administration Building

This provided full estimating services throughout design. Project required significant VE during the process. One of the significant issues was mechanical design. The design incorporated an air handling unit with fan coils for each office and a screw type chiller. We advised that they incorporate a furnace and condensers or a rooftop unit to keep costs down. Project bid as was and they received one mechanical bid that was $188/sf. After bid, system was redesigned per previous suggested VE options.

Residence

We provided a cost estimate for this home. After we provided our estimate for cost of construction, a builder gave them his estimate. His was almost 300K more that what we estimated… but the catch was that this couple had bought the property with the builder attached. They had to use the builder and in the time between when they had signed the contract and when they had finally settled on a design, the property had more than doubled in value. Lesson is, always try to buy a property without a builder attached. Always price check your builder and be ready to walk away unless you can’t live without the property and have your plans pretty much ready to go when negotiating the property so the builder can bid your home as part of the process.

Southeast High School Remodel

8This was an interior remodel and VOAG remodel addition. The trickiest part with the hallway remodel was dealing with some precast columns that had to be replaced.
